Lucky Clover Golf Tournament

Attention all golfers and 4-H supporters!  The Lucky Clover Golf Tournament is coming up on Saturday, June 4.  This tournament is the annual fundraiser for Bosque County 4-H, and it allows us to send our 4-H youth to leadership camps, state qualifying contests, and State 4-H Congress.  The funds raised at the golf tournament also allow Bosque County 4-H to award scholarships to graduating seniors. Bosque 4-Hers Make a Showing at Ft. Worth

The Fort Worth Stock Show kicked off this past week and Bosque County 4-Hers were there.  Bosque County was represented during the heifer show by three youth as well as one junior team in the Plant ID Contest. Maggie Chaffin was the first to show last Saturday.  Maggie did very well as she competed in a very large Polled Hereford heifer class.  Maggie walked out of the ring smiling with a 6th place finish. Central Texas Youth Fair

The time has come to begin getting your entries in for the 2016 CTYF which will be held March 1-5.  Entry forms can be found at the Extension office or on the Central Texas Youth Fair page of our website, http://bosque.agrilife.org/4-h/central-texas-youth-fair/.    Entries must be postmarked or handed in by February 1.  Late entries will be accepted through February 15 but entry fees will double February 2 – 15.  Rabbits, Home Economics, Ag Mechanics and the Cake Show are all options still available for getting an entry into this… Read More →

District Food Challenge Contest

On Wednesday, December 3 the 4-H District Food Challenge Contest was held at the Bell County Expo Center.  Bosque County sent three teams to compete, one Senior Division and two Junior/Intermediate Division. One Day 4-H Community Service Project

2015 Bosque County 4-H Banquet

The Bosque 4-H Banquet will be held Luau Style on June 12th at Clifton Park, next to the pool.  The Awards Banquet and Dinner will begin at 6:00pm, to be followed by Officer Inductions and a Party at The Clifton Pool.  Dress will be 4-H appropriate, but with the Luau Theme in mind (no swimsuits at the Banquet). 4-H Photography Workshop

On Monday, April 13 at 6:00pm Leigh Gilbert, owner of Lovleigh Photography in Meridian, will be leading another 4-H Photography Workshop.  All 4-Hers interested in participating are welcome and should meet at the Extension office at 5:30pm.  The workshop will take place at Meridian State Park and the lesson will be “Taking Your Camera Off Auto”.  Leigh will teach techniques of the other settings on more advanced cameras.  However, you don’t need a camera with advanced settings to participate, any camera you have will be fine.  Participants will… Read More →

Houston Livestock Show Results

Bosque County 4-Hers had a great 2015 Houston Livestock Show.  Madysin and McKenzie Hicks were the first to compete with their swine.  This was the first major show competition for both of these young ladies.  They put in a lot of time and effort into the swine they raised, and their showmanship in the ring was outstanding, but they did not make it to the sale ring.  Next to compete was Maggie Chaffin and her heifer Shania, excelling and earning the first place trophy for their class.  Maggie… Read More →
