District Food Challenge Contest

On Wednesday, December 3 the 4-H District Food Challenge Contest was held at the Bell County Expo Center.  Bosque County sent three teams to compete, one Senior Division and two Junior/Intermediate Division.

The Senior Team, “Savory Sisters”, needed to take 1st place to have the opportunity to advance to the State Competition.  Darcy Wyatt, Emily Murphy, Mackenzie Errington, Lia Worley and Emma Guillory did an outstanding job, and the judges agreed, as they were awarded 1st place and will be headed to College Station in June for State Roundup.

The Junior/Intermediate teams also showed great skills in the competition as they both rose to the top of their classes.  In the Bread and Cereal category, “Meridian Mayhem”, with team members Macie Speer, Kimberlee Walker, Abigail Mason, Reese Errington and Jackson DeBorde, took 1st place and the Team Spirit Award.  “Five Star Cuisine”, with members McKenzie Hicks, Madison Hicks, Hayden Hewitt, Karsten Purcell and Kloe Purcell, walked away with 4th place in the Main Dish category.  All of these teams showed great improvement in their knowledge of cooking, nutrition and public speaking skills since the beginning of the year.  Congratulations to all of these teams!!
