17th Annual Central Texas Beef Cattle Meeting
The annual Central Texas Beef Cattle Meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the Meridian Civic Center located at 309 West River Street in Meridian, Texas. Registration will start at 5:30PM with Dinner at 6:00PM and Programs at 6:30PM. This is the seventeenth year for this event in our four county area (Bosque, Somervell, Hood and Johnson). Beef Production and Price Projections
You may not have realized it, but for the first time in almost a decade America’s cattle herd has increased. According to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service the number of cattle and calves in the U.S. as of January 1, 2015, totaled 89.8 million head. This is an increase over last year’s total by 1%. The number of cows and heifers that have calved is up roughly 2% from 2014, while the total number of beef cows is up 2%. CenTex Beef Cattle Symposium
The annual CenTex Beef Cattle Symposium will be held on Friday, September 26, 2014 at the Hill College Performing Arts Center located in Hillsboro, Texas. This is the sixth year for this event in our 9 County area (Bell, Bosque, Coryell, Falls, Hamilton, Hill, Johnson, Limestone and McLennan). Mark your calendars now for the Bosque County Hay Show and Central Texas Beef Clinic. There are two dates to remember for the Hay Show. The first is the Hay Show entry day on Friday, September 19th. All entries will need to be taken to the Iredell Ag Shop between 8 and noon that day. The Hay Show and Scholarship Auction will take place on Monday, October 20th. WHAT IS THE TEXAS BEEF CHECKOFF? Upon request of the Texas cattle industry and in accordance with provisions of Texas Agriculture Code, Ch. 41, Subchapter H and Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) rules 4 TAC, Ch. 17, Subchapter A, Div. 2, TDA will conduct a referendum on the establishment of a refundable assessment on cattle sales or ownership transfer in Texas.
