Contests, Contests, Contests!

Bosque County 4-H members have already had a busy spring competing in 4-H contests.

The 2014 Hackamore Ranch Open Invitational Contests were on April 5th at 44 Farms in Cameron.

These contests included Range & Pasture Plant Identification and Range Evaluation.  These were the 2nd Annual 4-H and FFA Contests sponsored by Mr. Cody Fowler of Hackamore Ranch in Milam County.  Cody and Albina Fowler have an interest in youth and ecology, so their non-profit organization is providing scholarships to high point senior participants.  A minimum $5,000 scholarship was awarded to the high point senior individual in Plant ID and a minimum $5,000 scholarship was awarded to the high point senior individual in Range Evaluation.  Educational training was provided by Dr. Barron Rector, Associate Professor and Extension Range Specialist.  Dr. Rector also coordinated the contests.
