National Walking Day

It’s time to dust off those walking shoes!  April 6 is National Walking Day, which makes this a great time to kick-start your physical fitness routine.  Walking is one of the easiest and least expensive ways to exercise, and springtime provides beautiful scenery to enjoy while you walk!

The Mayo Clinic has five ways that regular, brisk walking can help you live a healthier life:

  • Maintain a healthy weight;
  • Prevent or manage various health conditions including heart disease, high blood pressure, and type 2 diabetes;
  • Strengthen bones and muscles;
  • Improve your mood; and
  • Improve your balance and coordination.

Walking might not be the trendy or cool way to exercise, but the benefits are just as effective as other forms of physical activity.  Find a friend or family member to go with you and keep you accountable.  You might feel like you don’t have time to add in a new exercise habit, but it’s worth it to make the time.  Let’s get moving, Bosque County!

Countywide Garage Sale Reminders: The Bosque Countywide Garage Sale is coming up April 15-16.  Be sure to invite your friends and family member to town for this great event!  Remember; please shop the registered garage sales that have numbered signs in the yard.  These sales have contributed to the advertising costs that make this event so great.
