Street-Sign-psd12870Last week, 16 Bosque County 4-H members competed at the 2013 Texas 4-H Roundup in College Station.  Texas 4-H Roundup is an invitational competition for youth that have successfully placed in a qualifying event at the district level.  Our qualifiers spent several months preparing to compete against youth from all over the state of Texas.  We are extremely proud of them.  Dedication to their respective contests was evident.

Joshua Murphy won 1st Place Overall at the Veterinary Science Skill-A-Thon Invitational Contest.  He also placed 1st in the skills, 1st in the written, and 1st in the communication rounds.  Caleb Murphy placed 2nd in the written round of the Veterinary Science Skill-A-Thon. Benjamin Murphy also participated in this competition.

Four Bosque County 4-H members competed in Educational Presentations and Share-the-Fun.  These members were Shelby Crockett, Rose Codanti, Mattie Guillory, and Reagan Dyer.  Sarah Smajstrla competed in the Fashion Storyboard Competition.

Gramm Guillory was the 2nd High Point Individual and Runner Up in Range Evaluation Contest.

The Consumer Decision Making team consisted of Benjamin Murphy, Caleb Murphy, Joshua Murphy and John Seely.  This team placed 9th.  Shelby Crockett also participated in this competition.

The Bosque County Leaders 4 Life Team also competed.   The team consisted of Laramie Poston, Jessica Harris, Grace Black, McKenzie Whitney, and Marti Hanson.  Bosque County ranked 15th.

Two of our seniors were also recognized and awarded scholarships.  Gramm Guillory was the recipient of a 4-H Scholarship worth $18,000, sponsored by the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.   Reagan Dyer was the recipient of a 4-H Scholarship worth $18,000, sponsored by the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.  If they keep a 3.0 for two years they can apply for $8,000 more for their Junior and Senior years!

We would like to congratulate all our 4-H members on a job well done.  Their preparation and representation of Bosque County was commendable.
