Sport Fishing

Bosque / Hill 4-H Sportfishing Project

Project Leaders: Chelsea Dorward (Bosque Co) & Angie Nors (Hill Co)

The Sport Fishing Project was started to help youth with the knowledge and skills needed to advance when it comes to catching fish.  Though the fun that comes with this project may be the biggest draw, it is not the total goal – safety and education are.   According to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, 29 boating fatalities and hundreds of boat accidents and injuries occurred on Texas waters in 2018.  Bosque 4-H has teamed up with local Game Wardens, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Corp of Engineers, local fishing guides and fishing enthused adult volunteers to teach youth about safety on and around the water, as well as the skills to catch dinner.

Youth are encouraged to bring their own fishing gear, but it is not necessary to participate – equipment will be available. From the beginner to the advanced, everyone is welcome!!

Water Safety
