Two Upcoming Programs for Bosque County Agriculture Producers

The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office of Bosque County has two upcoming programs for agricultural producers. On Thursday, December 1st the 3rd Annual Bosque County Pecan Show & Bake Show will be held at the Meridian Civic Center. With this event a free educational presentation on Pecan Production and Fruit Trees will be provided to the public from 12 Noon to 1pm. This presentation will be provided by Larry Jim Womack of Womack Nursery in DeLeon, Texas. Remember pecan nut entries are due to the Extension Office by November 28th, baked items need to be dropped off between 8-10am on December 1st at the Meridian Civic Center.

The following week on Thursday, December 8, 2016 a multi-county Farm and Ranch Seminar for farmers and ranchers will be conducted in 13 locations across Central Texas. This program will provide those individuals with up to eight (8) CEUs. Of these eight (8) hours, four (4) hours will be in General, two (2) hours in IPM and two (2) hour in Laws and Regulations.  Licensed commercial and non-commercial applicators will be able to obtain their required five hours within the first five hours of the program.

This year’s program will include the following topics and speakers: Laws and Regulations with Controlling Feral Hogs presented by Local County Extension Agents; Mosquito Awareness and Insect Management in the City, Dr. Sonja Swiger, Asst. Professor & Extension Entomologist; Weed Control for Better Pastures, Dr. Vanessa Corriher-Olson, Associate  Professor & Extension Specialist; Prescribed Burning, Dr. Morgan Russell, Assistant Professor & Extension Range Specialist; Laws and Regulations with TDA, Dr. Mark Matocha, Associate Professor and Extension Specialist; Aquatic Vegetation Control in Ponds, Dr. Todd Sink, Assistant Professor & Extension Fisheries Specialist; Insect Management in Forages, Dr. Allen Knutson, Professor & Extension Specialist; and Brush Control on Rangelands, Dr. Megan Clayton, Assistant Professor and Extension Range Specialist. 

The Bosque, Johnson & Somervell County Texas A&M will be hosting this program at the City of Cleburne Senior Center located at 1212 Glenwood Drive in Cleburne, TX. Persons interested in attending this program on December 8, 2016 must pre-register before December 5, 2016 to guarantee participation. The cost of registration is $50 and will also include a steak lunch.
