Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Offices of Bosque, Somervell, Hamilton and Coryell Counties will be hosting a Feral Hog Program on Friday, September 16, 2016 at the Somervell County Expo Center in Glen Rose, TX. One CEU will be offered to those holding a private applicators pesticide license.
The registration will start at 8:45 am with the program to start at 9:00 am. Presentation topics include Feral Hog 101 by TAMU Extension Associate Josh Helcel, Trapping Feral Hogs by Joshua A Gaskamp of Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation, and current research on managing feral hogs will be discussed by Donnie Frels with Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Feral Hogs have been a disruptive element for landowners around the state and their numbers have steadily risen over the last decade. Control methods will work but, due to their intelligence and the reproduction ability of feral hogs, they have not always been effective over long periods of time. This program will present new information about what we know that we didn’t before, and give you a direction for where feral hog control is heading in the future.
Registration fee is $15 and includes a noon meal. For more information or to pre-register contact the Bosque County Extension Office at 254-435-2331. Individuals with disabilities requiring an auxiliary aid or special accommodations in order to participate are asked to contact Zach Davis at 254-897-2809 by September 7 to determine how reasonable accommodations may be met.
