Central Texas Youth Fair

The time has come to begin getting your entries in for the 2016 CTYF which will be held March 1-5.  Entry forms can be found at the Extension office or on the Central Texas Youth Fair page of our website, http://bosque.agrilife.org/4-h/central-texas-youth-fair/.    Entries must be postmarked or handed in by February 1.  Late entries will be accepted through February 15 but entry fees will double February 2 – 15.  Rabbits, Home Economics, Ag Mechanics and the Cake Show are all options still available for getting an entry into this year’s fair.

Rabbit validation is scheduled for Tuesday, February 1 at the Clifton Ag Classroom @ 5:00 pm.  If you would like to have a rabbit project and need help, contact the Extension office for details on how and where to begin.

Home Economics is another great way to enter the fair with categories in photography, art, clothing, textiles, crafts, canned foods, homegrown vegetables, horticulture and baked goods.  The Home Economics exhibit is very unique in that it has a way for the adults of Bosque County to participate, in an open class division.

The Ag Mechanics entry includes classes of BBQ pits, Farm & Ranch Equipment, Indoor Furniture & Art, Outdoor Furniture & Art, Restored Factory-built Projects, and Trailers and Wildlife Management Equipment.

The tastiest entry of the entire fair is the Cake Show entry.  Youth must turn in their recipe along with the entry in one of the following categories:  Decorated, Layer, Pound and Sheet Cake.  Youth are eligible to make sale with an overall top 15 placing cake and either have an animal showing or twenty Home Economics entries into the fair.

The CTYF catalog contains all the information needed about all entries into the fair.  Come by the Extension office and pick yours up today!!
